According to the Public Relations of the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Morteza Nazari said: This training course, with the presence of over 30 managers from executive bodies, tourism facilities and managers, and tourism sector activists, was held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in cooperation with the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts and the Cultural Heritage Protection Department of Shahroud County, focusing on the conservation of the Asiatic cheetah. The Head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Shahroud County added: The Turan National Park in Shahroud County is one of the most important and few remaining habitats of the Asiatic cheetah in the world. Therefore, holding this course plays a significant role in increasing awareness about the conservation of this rare species for the target community. He stated that environmental protection is not solely the responsibility of governments anywhere in the world; people and the private sector also participate in it. He said: We are moving towards a direction where people and the private sector will increasingly cooperate and participate in the conservation of species like the cheetah. Nazari added: In terms of the importance and value of wildlife, the Turan complex is considered the most unique protected area in Iran, as Turan is the only region in Iran where all three native species of Iran, namely the Asiatic cheetah, the Asiatic wild ass, and the Asian Ground Jay (Pleske's Ground Jay), can be observed. It is necessary to increase the knowledge and information level of officials and the public regarding the conservation of the Iranian cheetah by holding training courses. The Head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Shahroud County said: This course has been held with the aim of realizing the existing policy for the conservation of the Asiatic cheetah and following the implementation of training duties to enhance the required knowledge level in the province's tourism sector. He added: Training and empowering tourism activists, alongside other communities, can be a positive step towards the conservation of the Asiatic cheetah. The Khartouran Protected Area is located adjacent to the tourism target village of Qaleh Bala and east of Shahroud County.
