Revitalizing Historic Buildings and Expanding Accommodation Infrastructure in Global Tourism Village of Qaleh Bala

Seyed Mohammad-Sadegh Razvian said on Saturday, July 18, 2026, that, as part of efforts to preserve existing buildings and make effective use of the village’s built environment, the abandoned telecommunications building in Qaleh Bala has been transformed into a standard tourist accommodation facility after years of disuse, through the efforts of the village council and with provincial support. Providing details of the project, the Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Shahrud County explained that the restoration and renovation works included traditional kāhgel mud-and-straw plastering, waterproofing, a complete upgrade of electrical systems, and replacement of the doors. To improve visitors’ comfort, the facility has also been equipped with a fully functional kitchen, a bathroom, and three restroom units. Referring to the building’s location, he noted that its proximity to the Nowruzgah has further enhanced the tourism value of the restored property. The project not only prevented the deterioration and destruction of a public building but also transformed it into an active heritage and accommodation attraction within the village. Razvian concluded by expressing his appreciation for the constructive cooperation of the Deputy Governorate for Rural Affairs and the efforts of the Qaleh Bala Village Administration. He emphasized that expanding accommodation infrastructure is one of the key foundations for increasing visitor stays and achieving sustainable development in designated tourism villages. He expressed hope that the operation of the new facility would further stimulate the local economy and enable the local community to benefit more directly from the presence of visitors in this prominent tourism village.
