Restoration and Revitalization of Qaleh Bala’s Historic Fabric Begins with the Support of Shahrud’s Housing Foundation
The Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Shahrud County has announced the beginning of restoration and revitalization works in the historic fabric of Qaleh Bala, a designated tourism village, in cooperation with the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation of Shahrud County.
Seyed Mohammad-Sadegh Razvian said on Sunday, July 12, 2026, that the restoration and revitalization project had begun with the aim of protecting the values of Qaleh Bala’s indigenous architecture, improving the village’s physical environment, and strengthening its tourism infrastructure, in cooperation with the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation of Shahrud County.
The official added that the project focuses on preserving the village’s historic identity, improving streets and public spaces, and preventing the deterioration and damage of valuable elements within the historic fabric. The initiative is expected to contribute to sustainable tourism development while enhancing the experience and satisfaction of both residents and visitors.
Razvian noted that Qaleh Bala is regarded as one of the prominent villages of Semnan Province, distinguished by its natural landscapes, distinctive terraced architecture, valuable historic fabric, and cultural and ecotourism potential. The village has also been included among the selected villages recognized in the Best Tourism Villages initiative, further underscoring the need for greater attention to the preservation and restoration of its historic fabric and the strategic management of tourism.
Emphasizing that the project is being carried out with a strong commitment to preserving architectural authenticity and maintaining harmony with the village’s historic character, Razvian stated that the continuation of restoration works in strict accordance with cultural heritage regulations and the historic visual identity of Qaleh Bala is essential to safeguarding the village’s position within the global tourism network.
He added that these efforts will not only contribute to greater public satisfaction but also help create the conditions for sustainable tourism development and attract more domestic and international visitors.
