High Chance for a Village in Semnan Province to Achieve World Registration
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Semnan Province said: "Qaleh Bala village, located in Shahroud county, is one of the three files submitted by Iran to UNESCO for registration on the world list and has a high chance of being registered."
According to the Public Relations of the General Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Semnan Province, Amir Karamzadeh announced on Saturday, September 5, 1401 (August 27, 2022), stating: "The world registration file for Qaleh Bala has been submitted, and it is hoped that with the global registration of this village, we will witness an increase in the number of world-registered sites in the province."
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Semnan Province named the historic complex of Bastam as another important monument proposed for world registration, noting: "The file for the world registration of this monument has been reopened and reactivated after 15 years."
Karamzadeh announced the continuation of efforts for the world registration of Iran's caravanserai complexes, adding: "Six caravanserai from Semnan province will also be registered globally as part of this plan."
He recalled: "The historic Miandasht Caravanserai, which comprises three caravanserai, the Abbasabad Caravanserai, the Miyami Caravanserai, and the stone and brick caravanserai of Ahovan in Semnan, and the Qasr-e Bahram Caravanserai in the south of Garmsar are the six caravanserai included in the world registration list of Iran's Silk Road caravanserai."
Karamzadeh, referring to the existence of one world-registered site in Semnan province, said: "The Hyrcanian Forest of Abr, located in Shahroud county, which has achieved world registration, is also a very good capacity in the field of tourism and ecotourism in this province."
The historic village of Qaleh Bala is located 24 kilometers from Biarjomand and 140 kilometers south of Shahroud. Qaleh Bala is situated in a foothill region, and its houses utilize stepped architecture. The proximity of the Turan Protected Area to the village, the preservation of houses and historical texture, and the multiplicity of ecotourism accommodations have turned this village into a tourist destination for Iranian and foreign travelers.
