According to the reporter of Mirath Arya, Saeed Yousef Pour, at the second National Ecotourism Festival in the tourism target village of Qaleh Bala, Shahroud, referring to the global importance of the Turan region, stated: The Turan region was registered on the world list years ago and is today known as the most important habitat in the country and the last breeding ground of the Asiatic cheetah in the world.
The Director General of Environmental Protection of Semnan Province, stating that the village of Qaleh Bala is located adjacent to the Turan National Park, the Turan Wildlife Refuge, and the Turan Protected Area, added: A collection of the most important areas under the management of the Environmental Protection Organization are located in this vicinity, forming one of the most valuable protected complexes in the country.

The Director General of Environmental Protection of Semnan Province, emphasizing the role of people in protecting natural habitats, said: The approach of the Environmental Protection Organization is based on public participation, and the development of ecotourism and the nature tourism economy can effectively play a role in the conservation of flagship animal species and natural habitats.
He noted: The more dynamic and active the nature tourism economy becomes in these areas, the more the motivation for environmental protection will be strengthened among local communities, and this will help in the sustainable preservation of nature.

The Director General of Environmental Protection of Semnan Province continued by referring to the unparalleled diversity of animal species in Semnan Province, stating: Of the eight species of wild felines in Iran, eight species live in Semnan Province, and especially in Shahroud county, which indicates the high environmental importance of the region.
He explained: All species of wild ruminants in Iran that are present in the country also live in Semnan Province and Shahroud county, and this shows the special position of this region in the country's biodiversity.
Yousef Pour attributed the round-the-clock protection of the region's nature to the efforts of environmental rangers and the participation of local people, and stated: The rich culture of the region's people has caused the Asiatic cheetah to still live in this area, and it is essential that this companionship and participation continue.
