According to Miras Arya, Bahman Akhlaghi said: On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, a coordination and brainstorming meeting to accelerate the process of global registration of the historical village of Qaleh Bala in Shahroud was held, chaired by the Governor of Semnan, and with the presence of Fatemi, Director General of Domestic Tourism Development of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, the Acting Director General of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Semnan Province, members of the National Rural Tourism Committee, and a number of directors general of the province's executive bodies.
The Acting Director General of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department of Semnan Province added: During this meeting, the managers of the present organizations presented reports and related plans and announced their full readiness to cooperate and provide the necessary support in the path of achieving the global registration of this historical village. A report on the actions taken and previous performances was also presented, and officials emphasized the necessity of accelerating and boosting the pace of executive actions for the global registration of this village.
He stated: Qaleh Bala village, as one of the prominent tourism destinations of Semnan Province, is on the list of UNESCO's candidate global tourism villages for the year 2027, and efforts to complete the file and prepare its infrastructure are still ongoing.
Akhlaghi pointed out that the historical village of Qaleh Bala is located 15 kilometers from the city of Biyardjmand and east of Shahroud County, and stated: Qaleh Bala is located in a foothill region, and its houses are built using terraced architecture. The proximity of the Turan Protected Area to the village, the preservation of houses and historical texture, the abundance of eco-lodges, etc., have turned this village into a tourist destination for Iranian and foreign tourists.
