According to the reporter of Mirath Arya, Seyyed Mohammad Sadegh Razavian announced today, Saturday, May 15, 2026, stating: Silkworm farming, or sericulture, in the tourism target village of Qaleh Bala, affiliated with the Biyardjmand district of Shahroud county, which has attracted the attention of some village households in recent years, has continued this year with the participation of the residents. The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Shahroud county added: This activity, as one of the traditional and indigenous occupations, in addition to creating supplementary income for rural households, is compatible with the natural conditions of the region and the environmental capacities surrounding the Turan Protected Area, and can be developed as one of the sustainable economic capacities in the village. He stated: The historic village of Qaleh Bala is located 15 kilometers from the city of Biyardjmand and east of Shahroud county, and due to its terraced architecture, preservation of historical texture, its proximity to the Turan Protected Area, and the existence of numerous ecotourism accommodations, it has become one of the important tourist destinations in Semnan province. Razavian emphasized: The development of local industries and home-based businesses, including sericulture, can play a significant role in strengthening the local economy, creating sustainable employment, and preserving the traditional lifestyle in villages. The head of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Department of Shahroud county stated: Silkworm farming, given its limited need for space and adaptability to rural conditions, is a suitable capacity for generating income alongside other economic activities in the village. He concluded by noting: The continuation of activities such as sericulture, alongside the development of sustainable tourism and environmental protection, can play an effective role in the sustainability of the local economy and the strengthening of the cultural and livelihood indicators of Qaleh Bala village on its path to world registration.
